Walk For Life: Cancer Walk Fundraiser

Updated: Oct 19, 2019

This year’s Annual Walk for Life was a huge success! With over 1200 walkers and —- ambassadors, we collectively raised a total of $48,000. The proceeds were split and donated respectively to the City of Hope cancer research hospital and the Cancer Support Community (CSC) Redondo Beach. With over 50 donors, we donated locks of hair to the Children With Hair Loss (CWHL) Nonprofit.

The Rose Ceremony served to recognize and honor those within our extended Panther Family who have been affected directly by cancer. During the ceremony, our [Leadership Teacher and Activities Director] Season Pollock read the names of 85 taken. After the ceremony, representatives from both organizations accepted their checks, and the dancers on campus gave a surprise performance to honor the occasion and celebrate life, encouraging all to continue the fight against cancer. Before walking, the students in the bleachers and on the field threw purple powder into the air in celebration of this year’s efforts and to commence the walk.

1200 purple Panthers walked up the hill to Highridge Park. Once they arrived, they were greeted by the generous donation of Iced Tea from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, as well as water and snacks provided.

We look forward to another successful walk next year, and for years to come. We hope we can continue to walk for a cure and hopefully one day we will no longer need to.
