SLL Alum Interns With InHerShoes
Updated: Oct 19, 2019
After spending my senior year in Service Learning Leadership with Ms. Myrick, I began a summer internship with InHerShoes, a non-profit organization that is all about “catalyzing courage” for girls and women around the world to live and create courageously. The ultimate mission and goals of this organization are fueled by one question: What would you do if you were 1% more courageous? InHerShoes is all about taking a stand for girls who want to express themselves and their passions, and take leadership for whatever they choose.
Being an intern for this organization has been an incredible experience. This summer, I’ve mostly been in charge of high school outreach for InHerShoes, where my responsibilities have been to email and call schools in California and create partnerships with them. I’ve had to use my own leadership skills to be able to put myself out there and take initiative to stay organized, find phone numbers and email addresses, and maintain relationships with the schools and people that InHerShoes works with. Along with high school outreach, I’ve also been maintaining some of InHerShoes’ social media, such as their Snapchat account.

This is our first brainstorming meeting. All of the interns brought unique ideas and strengths to our group! (That's me in the lower left corner)

Through this internship, I’ve also had the incredible of experience of getting to tour The Honest Company’s office. We got to meet the founders of the company, Jessica Alba and Christopher Gavigan, and the experience showed what it’s like inside the office of a start-up company. Thank you for having us Honest CO!
Overall, from this internship I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to be a leader. Learning from young women who have accomplished so much just by putting themselves out there and working hard for what they are passionate about was a real inspiration for what I want to do in the future. This internship was truly inspiring and an incredible opportunity.
